The Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta and Reunion, which takes place from November 1 – 5 in Alicante, Spain, will see the largest ever gathering of yachts and competitors from the first 10 editions of the round the world race.

Alicante, Spain – The Volvo Ocean Race Academy was at the heart of the action on the opening weekend of the Alicante Race Village. Eight junior sailing teams took part in a three-day team racing clinic and regatta and more than 300 youngsters got their first sailing experience as part of the Academy’s Try Sailing initiative at Alicante Puerto de Salida.

Alicante, Spain – The first Whitbread 60 ever built will be taking part in the Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta and Reunion in Alicante from November 1-5. Among her crew will be her original skipper Dawn Riley and a host of female sailors who have been part of previous all-female crews.

Alicante, Spain – Green Dragon and Telefónica Black, two Volvo Open 70s from the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09 will join the Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta fleet from November 1-5, lining up with boats that took part in the first 10 round the world races.

Alicante, Spain – Three-time Whitbread Round the World Race skipper Alain Gabbay is the latest Ambassador to the Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta and Reunion, which takes place in Alicante, Spain 1-5 November. During the event, Frenchman Gabbay will be reunited with Charles Jourdan, the ultra light maxi-yacht which he skippered to finish sixth in the 1989-90 Whitbread.

Alicante, Spain – King’s Legend, the boat that finished second in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1977-78 with Skip Novak as her navigator, has become the latest entry to the Volvo Ocean Race Legends Regatta and Reunion in Alicante, Spain in November after securing sponsorship from The Jalousie Enclave, an exclusive property development in a UNESCO World Heritage site, Val des Pitons on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.

Alicante, Spain – Lionel Péan, the original skipper of Whitbread 1985-86 winner L’Esprit d’Equipe, will reunite with his crew and his boat for the Volvo Ocean Race Legends regatta and reunion in Alicante from November 1-5. The 58’ sloop will join a growing fleet of boats from the first 10 races including race winning yacht Steinlager 2.
